The short version

Relay Consulting Ltd ("Relay") uses the details you choose to provide to respond to enquiries, understand and deliver agreed work, and keep appropriate business records. The website also relies on service providers to host the site and deliver contact-form messages. Relay does not sell or rent personal information, or use it for advertising or unsolicited marketing.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to anyone who visits relayconsulting.nz, uses the contact form, or emails Relay directly. Relay is an independently operated technical consultancy based in Christchurch, New Zealand. The business is run by one consultant and handles personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What's collected

• Contact form submissions — your name, email, business name (optional), the type of help you're enquiring about, and the message you write.
• Email correspondence — anything you send to support@relayconsulting.nz stays in the inbox so I can reply and reference past conversations.
• Website and hosting data — the hosting provider may process standard request and security information, such as the page requested, device or browser details, approximate location, and network information needed to deliver and protect the site.

What's not collected

• No advertising or marketing tracking pixels set by Relay
• No personal profiles for advertising or remarketing
• No sale or rental of personal information
• No newsletter or promotional mailing list

Local preferences and service providers

Your light or dark theme preference is saved locally in your browser so the site remembers your choice. It is not included with a contact-form submission.

Relay uses Vercel to host and protect the website, FormSubmit to deliver contact-form enquiries, and an email provider to store correspondence. These providers may process limited personal or technical information, including outside New Zealand, only as needed to provide and secure their services or meet legal requirements. Relay remains responsible for the personal information these providers process on its behalf.

How your information is used

Information you submit is used to:

• Respond to your enquiry
• Scope and deliver consulting, support, or project work you've asked Relay to undertake
• Maintain accurate records of past client work for reference and continuity

Personal information is disclosed only to providers needed to operate the site, deliver enquiries, provide requested work, or where required or permitted by law. It is not used for promotional emails or newsletters.

Data retention

Enquiry, email, and client records are kept only for as long as needed to respond, maintain a working relationship, preserve useful project continuity, and meet legal or record-keeping obligations. Service-provider logs and backups may expire on their own retention schedules. You can ask Relay to delete information that is no longer needed by emailing support@relayconsulting.nz.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information Relay holds about you and request access to it
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Ask for information to be deleted where it is no longer needed, subject to legal and record-keeping requirements
• Make a complaint about how your information has been handled
