Questions about working with me.

A few things you might want to know before asking for a hand with your business IT.

Who do you work with?

I work with small businesses, from local shops and sole traders to growing teams. You deal with me directly when something needs fixing or you want to improve how things run. If you have a personal project, you’re welcome to ask too. I’ll let you know if it’s a good fit.

Can you help with something that isn’t listed?

Often, yes. Tell me what’s getting in the way of your work, even if it doesn’t fit a service listed here. I’ll be upfront about whether I can help and what I’d do first.

How much does it cost?

The first chat is free. One-off help is $100 an hour, billed in one-hour blocks. Projects get a free fixed quote based on the hours and what’s needed, agreed before any work starts. Monthly support (Relay Care) is coming soon.

Do I need a monthly plan?

No. You can come to me for a single job and get back in touch when you need more help. Monthly support through Relay Care is coming soon. If that sounds useful, let me know and I’ll tell you when it’s available.

How quickly will you reply?

You’ll get a reply within one working day. That’s a reply time, not a fix time: it doesn’t mean the problem will be solved that day. Relay isn’t a 24/7 helpdesk.

Can you come to my business?

Around Christchurch, yes, when it’s needed. Most work can be done remotely, so I can help businesses anywhere in New Zealand.

Will I need to replace what I already use?

Not usually. I work with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Windows and Mac, and I start with what you have. If I suggest a change, I’ll explain why. I won’t replace something that works just for the sake of it.

What should I put in my first message?

Tell me what’s happening or what you’d like to change, and any deadline you have. You don’t need to work out the cause. Please don’t include passwords or sensitive files in the contact form.

Who controls my accounts afterwards?

You do, and they stay in your name. Any logins I need are kept securely on my end, then handed over or shared with you, depending on what you need. Your handover notes cover the access and settings.

Is support included after a project?

A project covers the agreed work, testing and handover notes. Help after that is booked as one-off help. Monthly support through Relay Care is coming soon.
